Every August 7, World Lighthouse Day commemorates the Lighthouse Act of 1789, signed by George Washington. Beyond its history, Lime Kiln Point State Park hides an exceptional surprise: from the shore you can spot orcas passing a short distance from the coast, making the visit much more than a walk. Spain also has a network of historic lighthouses of enormous value, such as Cabo Mayor in Cantabria or Punta Nariga in Galicia, silent witnesses of centuries of Atlantic seamanship.
