Jaén, Andalusia, Spain

Oct 19, 2025

Jaén, surrounded by a blanket of more than 66 million olive trees, is the world capital of olive oil. From this impressive aerial view, we can appreciate how the landscape is drawn with infinite rows of trees that have marked the history, economy, and culture of this land. The Cathedral of the Assumption, a Renaissance jewel designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dominates the skyline and recalls the grandeur of the city's past.

In this unique setting, Jaén has experienced during the last week the Fair and Festivities of San Lucas, which today comes to a close. This celebration, whose origins date back to 1805, was born when an epidemic forced the old fair to be moved from August to October. Since then, it has become one of the most eagerly anticipated events in Jaén.

Booths, music, tapas, and horseback rides have filled the city with life, accompanying the serene rhythm of the olive groves. Jaén bids farewell to its fair, but it always remains open to visitors who wish to discover its heritage, its gastronomy, and, of course, the best olive oil in the world.
