Hungarian Parliament Building, Budapest, Hungary
Get up close and let the details do the talking: each stone, spire, and statue seems to hold its own story. Designed in the late 19th century, the Hungarian Parliament building reflects the ambition of a nation, combining the elegance of the Gothic Revival with typically Hungarian motifs. The vision of architect Imre Steindl was realized for more than twenty years thanks to the work of more than 1,000 artisans. Even the central dome, which reaches 96 meters in height, symbolizes the anniversary of Hungary's millennium, celebrated in 1896. Completed in 1904, the building still dominates Budapest's skyline as an imposing national symbol.
Upon entering, wealth intensifies: gold leaf illuminates staircases and corridors, while statues of rulers and historical figures transform history into spectacle. Beyond its political function, Parliament is a cultural emblem that hosts state ceremonies, welcomes millions of visitors every year, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its grandeur and beauty, it is a perfect place to visit and discover the history of Hungary through every detail.
